About the race
The Christmas Charity Race is Soto del Real's big festive sporting event. It is organised by the town hall's sports department on a December weekend, and every euro raised goes to the Spanish Cancer Association (AECC): in 2025 it drew around 400 entrants and raised €4,180.
The long race is 11 km, two laps of a roughly 5.5 km circuit on the Anillo Verde, the green ring around the village that mixes tarmac and dirt paths. It starts and finishes in the Plaza de la Villa and passes the Cañada Real Segoviana drovers' road, the amphibian ponds and the Parque del Río. The profile is gentle with no big climbs, and the race is open to anyone aged 14 or over.
The same morning there is a 5.5 km race (a single lap), competitive Nordic walking over both distances and children's races between the Plaza de la Villa and the Parque del Río. The mood is festive: runners are encouraged to dress up, there are prizes for the best costumes, and a 'dorsal 0' lets people donate without running.
Soto del Real has no Cercanías station. The town hall website publishes timetables for interurban bus lines 720, 721, 725, 726 and 728; lines 725 and 726 run from Madrid (Plaza de Castilla).
