About the race
Los 10.000 de la Dehesa is the town council's cross-country race in El Vellón, a Sierra Norte village by the El Vellón (Pedrezuela) reservoir. It takes place on a Sunday in September as part of the fiestas and reached its seventh edition in 2026.
The start and finish are in the municipal dehesa, and the course follows dirt tracks across open pasture. There are two distances, 10,000 and 5,000 metres, with chip timing and trophies for the top three over each distance, plus a prize for the first local runner.
It is a simple, inexpensive race with a strong village feel: the entry includes a T-shirt and goodie bag, and registered residents pay less.
