About the race
MoralTrail Race is Moralzarzal's mountain race, held every November and organised by YouEvent together with the town hall. Its shorter option, the MoralSpeed Race, covers 9.5 km with about 560 m of climbing and runs on the same morning as the MoralZigZag, roughly 17 km long.
Start and finish are in Plaza de los Caños, next to the church of San Miguel Arcángel. From there the course heads up Cerro del Telégrafo (Cabeza Mediana) and the slopes of Matarrubia, mostly on singletrack with some dirt road and firebreak sections and hardly any tarmac, with wide views over the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The organisers pitch it as a good way into trail running, though the climbing will be felt in the legs. There is an aid station around km 6, chip timing and live tracking, and a post-race meal with live music waiting at the finish. No cups are handed out at the aid stations, so bring your own.
