About the race
The Carrera de Montaña Reino de Patones is a trail race organised every winter by the Agrupación Deportiva Patones se mueve. It started in 2014, and its tenth edition in February 2026 also hosted the Madrid Athletics Federation's short-course trail running championship.
The short course covers about 11.5 km with 550 m of climbing, almost entirely on mountain tracks and paths. According to the organiser's profile, it starts at the pelota court in Patones de Abajo at around 730 m, climbs for the first 4.5 km to almost 1,100 m, drops back down by halfway and tackles a second, shorter climb before the final descent into the village.
It suits runners with some trail experience: the short course has a 2 h 30 min cut-off, and the organisers can make kit compulsory if the weather calls for it. It has a strong village feel, with a barbecue for runners, a prize draw and a ham for the club with the most entrants. The 300 places, shared between the two distances, sold out in 2026.

There is no dedicated race parking. The start is in Patones de Abajo, where the town hall recommends leaving your car; parking in Patones de Arriba is for residents only.

ALSA buses from the Plaza de Castilla interchange: line 197A (Madrid–Uceda) stops in Patones, and some line 197 (Madrid–Torrelaguna) services continue to Patones; if yours ends in Torrelaguna, change to minibus 913.
