About the race
The Carrera Popular de Canencia is organised by the town hall of this small Sierra Norte village, which sits at around 1,140 m above sea level. Its second edition took place on 12 October 2026, making the most of the public holiday.
There are two options, 5 km and 10 km, both starting and finishing in the village square, with separate women's and men's rankings. The organisers have not published the course, the terrain or the elevation gain.
It is a local, family-friendly event, and the town hall also encourages people to take part walking. Entry cost €10 and included a T-shirt, refreshments and a prize draw.

Some trips on interurban lines 194 (Madrid Plaza de Castilla – Rascafría) and 195 (Madrid Plaza de Castilla – Braojos) run through Canencia; service is sparse, especially on public holidays, so check the timetables.
