Carrera Solidaria Cáritas Sierra

The Carrera Solidaria Cáritas Sierra is organised by Cáritas Diocesana de Madrid with the support of El Escorial town hall, and reached its eighth edition in 2026. It is less a competition than a festive, family day out that raises awareness of Cáritas' work for decent employment: the money raised goes to its employment programmes.

It starts and finishes at Plaza de España, in front of the town hall. The 5 km circuit is mostly urban, through the streets of the Villa de El Escorial, with a dirt section in La Manguilla park; 10 km runners do two laps. There is one drinks station on the course and a 90-minute time limit.

It is a small (300 bibs), affordable race for all levels: you must be 16 or older for the 10 km, while the 5 km is open to everyone, including accompanied children. Entry includes a T-shirt, goodie bag and bib, and there is usually live music at the start.

Bib pick-up from 10:00 at Plaza de España. Under-18s need a signed parental authorisation to collect their bib.
