About the race
The Vuelta a La Jarosa is the mountain race organised by Club Atletismo Guadarrama and Guadarrama town hall, and 2026 was its 16th edition. It is run on a Saturday evening in May, starting at 17:00, around La Jarosa reservoir, surrounded by pine forest at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The course is about 9 km with roughly 300 m of climbing on the tracks and paths around the reservoir, starting and finishing next to the Ruge restaurant. That much climbing makes it tougher than the distance suggests.
It is a very local race with a strong club feel: there are trophies for the top ten overall, the top three in each age group and a separate ranking for Guadarrama residents, and clubs with more than 12 runners receive a shoulder of ham. Entry is capped at 450 bibs, which sold out in 2026. The minimum age is 16.
